MICHAEL SULLIVAN

Michael Sullivan [1], a bar-certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law and decorated attorney, formed Michael Sullivan & Associates (MS&A) in 1996. Since it's formation, MS&A has grown rapidly throughout California with nine offices state-wide.

Prior to starting MS&A, Mr. Sullivan practiced workers’ compensation defense in Los Angeles, handling a full caseload of workers’ compensation litigation resulting in a 95% trial victory rate. In 2011, Mr. Sullivan published “Sullivan on Comp,” a 12-volume comprehensive, objective treatise on California workers’ compensation law. Mr. Sullivan regularly conducts seminars and webinars, and co-authors white papers on significant topics in workers’ comp law. Recent publications include “An Analysis of the New Regulations Regarding Disputes Over Medical-Legal Expense and Medical Treatment,” and “Special Report: SB 863 Five Years Later.” He also speaks regularly at professional conferences including the California Coalition on Workers’ Compensation, the Association of Insurance Professionals and the Public Agency Risk Managers Association.

BARTHOLOMEW SULLIVAN II

Senior Partner Bartholomew “Bart” Sullivan II [2] oversees all general operations across Michael Sullivan & Associates. Mr. Sullivan works to ensure the firm provides superior service and maintains its founding values.

Mr. Sullivan is a bar-certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law. He represents insurance carriers, self-insured employers and public entities in all aspects of workers’ compensation, appearing at Workers' Compensation Appeals Boards (WCABs) throughout Southern California. Mr. Sullivan has a wealth of experience litigating workers’ compensation cases, including conducting depositions of applicants, attending hearings, resolving cases via negotiated settlements, preparing briefs and petitions, conducting trials, and obtaining findings and awards.

ERIC DE WAMES

Managing Partner Eric De Wames [3] is responsible for Michael Sullivan & Associates' employment law practice. He represents businesses in a wide range of employment and labor law matters, including wage-and-hour issues, and cases involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and class actions. He is an expert in devising creative and effective strategies for investigating, litigating and negotiating settlements. He counsels business owners, managers and HR professionals on federal and state labor regulations, and is an experienced advocate before the EEOC, DLSE and other governmental agencies. Mr. De Wames has particular expertise advising the restaurant and retail industries, and has served as counsel for small startups to Fortune 500 companies.

An experienced litigator, he has been honored several times as a recipient of the California Super Lawyer Rising Star Award from Super Lawyers/Thomson Reuters.

AFSHA RANDERA

Managing Attorney Afsha Randera [4] joined the Michael Sullivan & Associates to initiate an immigration section, expanding the employment practice. She specializes in business, investment, entertainment and personal immigration, providing in-depth advice to SMEs, large multinational corporations and individuals on a wide range of U.S. immigrations issues. She has had notable success in obtaining visas and resolving immigration issues at consular posts worldwide. Ms. Randera is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, serving on the Media Relations and Membership Relations committees.

Ms. Randera has expertise in temporary residence and employment visas for professionals, extraordinary ability workers, entertainers and athletes in the H-1B, E-3, O and P visa categories. She worked on requests for evidence and waiver applications, and solved complex issues at U.S. consular posts. She also handled family-based immigration matters.
